Beneficial Summer Rain

This gallery contains 4 photos.

Yesterday, in the afternoon, we had a thunderstorm here for about 2 hours – not bad at all, but, on the contrary, with a wonderfully beneficial rain [we had 1.1 inches], that even made – true to its name – … Continue reading

Flash Flood

This gallery contains 3 photos.

Well, it wasn’t exactly a flash flood yesterday late in the afternoon during a thunderstorm, but it was still surprising to us how fast our normally dry creek [it’s a “wet weather creek” only] can rise in a downpour – … Continue reading

Videos of the Deluge

Without more explanations, as they’re kind of self-explanatory, here are the videos I took of all the water: Videos vom Wolkenbruch Ohne mehr Erklärungen, weil sie ja mehr oder weniger selbsterklärend sind, hier nun die Videos, die ich vom/beim Wolkenbruch … Continue reading

More Pictures of the Deluge

This gallery contains 15 photos.

Here I’m back with a few more words and quite a few pictures about today’s deluge. The forecast had predicted heavy thunderstorms for today, but that had been the case frequently lately without much more than a beneficial rainfall [I … Continue reading

Beneficial Rain

This gallery contains 2 photos.

Last night we had, as we have had quite a few times during the last few days (and nights), some really beneficial rain. Our raingauge showed 1.4 inches, and that’s still well in the “beneficial” range. We were really lucky, … Continue reading

Wet Weather Creek [4]

On Monday it rained again, quite heavily at that time, like a downpour, even if it was for a short time – about one and a half hours – only. But that was enough to make “our” creek swell considerably. I think it was 4 – 5 feet within just hald an hour or less. Of course, I could not resist to take a few more videos. Here is the first:

Regenwetterbach [4]

At the beginning you see, on the right, how quite a bit of water runs down from the street and then down our property in a broad creek of its own towards the creek proper. Later there are two trucks backing up as they don’t dare to drive through the water running across the street. as there’s the warning, on that yellow road sign, “Road subject to flooding.”

Road Subject to Flooding

Well, with hindsight, they could have managed, as the water was about a foot deep at that time. But then, you’re always cautioned not to try, as quite often people do get stuck or are even swept away and have to be rescued.

Wet Weather Creek [3]

With another short video, this time shot at the bottom of the “gorge” about at the middle of the creek along our property, I’d like to conclude this mini-series of videos of the creek with live water on Memorial Day weekend.
